GST in Singapore is a 8% broad-based value added tax added on import of goods, as well as nearly all supplies of goods and services. The only exemptions are for the sales and leases of residential properties, importation and local supply of investment precious metals and most financial services. Export of goods and international services are zero-rated.
Since Goods and Services Tax was introduced, thousands of Singaporeans have to calculate the amount of GST to add to the price of goods or services or calculate how much GST is included in the price to claim tax credits for any GST included in the price of goods, services or anything else acquired for use in carrying on the business.

GST Calculations
How to calculate GST in Singapore? When adding 8% to the price is relatively easy (just multiply the amount by 1.08), reverse GST calculations are quite tricky:
- To work out the price without GST you have to divide the amount by 1.08 ($216/1.08=$200)
- To figure out how much GST was included in the price multiply the GST-inclusive price by 8 then divide by 108 ($216*8/108=$16);
Avoid most common mistake when using percentages:
$200 + 8% = $216, however $216 - 8% is NOT equal $200, actually it's $198.72!
Sometimes numbers are not so pretty, so why do all this manual work when you can enter the amount into this GST Calculator for Singapore and get all the calculations at once! Enjoy!
